A new Shannon class lifeboat has arrived at its new home at Larne RNLI yesterday (Sunday 15 February). The lifeboat arrived at 1358hrs (1.58pm) to coincide with the number on the side of the lifeboat which will be named Machiko Nancy at a special ceremony and service of dedication later this year.

This Sunday, 15 February, marks a significant milestone for Larne RNLI as they prepare to welcome their new Shannon class lifeboat to the station.

Volunteers based at Achill Island RNLI, situated on the west coast of Ireland in county Mayo, are in search of the relatives for Sam and Ada Moody, who left a legacy of £600,000 which partly funded the construction of the station’s Trent class lifeboat, which has served Achill Island since 1999.

Baltimore RNLI held a special ceremony which saw the station receive a Vellum (Inscription of thanks from the Institution) marking one hundred years of saving lives at sea and the naming the new Atlantic 85 lifeboat Rita Daphne Smyth.

Wicklow RNLI have said goodbye to their beloved lifeboat Annie Blaker, the last Tyne Class lifeboat in the RNLI’s fleet.
